**Status:** version of 19.10.2026, not yet approved by Robin Jeske
**Authorship and bias (Autorschaft und Befangenheit):** Written by a Claude instance on 18.10.2026, read from the Navigator's code and data (via the workshop version hand-written on that day); not yet approved by Robin Jeske. A Claude voice is describing a tool of a work that Claude instances have long worked with — the description is a translation out of the code, not an interpretation, and it carries its author's handwriting. Where it contradicts the code, the code holds; read this text against itself as well.
**State:** source state of 19.10.2026 over the seven Navigator sources (Navigator engine · canon of the work · compass gesture · spindle engine · question catalogue · flow and result page · spindle drawing), checked against the seven sources at every test run of the platform; if one source differs, this text counts as unchecked.

## 1. The idea

The Navigator (/chaos) is a local state navigator. It does not ask *who* someone is; it lets a point wander through the playing field of the Spindle — the plane z = a + bi from section VII of the main work. An answer is not a choice between texts but a **gesture**: one pulls a compass knob in a direction, further or less far. Direction and strength move the point. At the end there is no label but a mirror: where the journey arrived, how it went, and a question about what was avoided. Then silence — no restart button, no "go deeper".

The page says up front:

> *This is an experimental resonance space, not therapy. The mirror can be sharp. All content is fictional.*
>
> *Answer honestly — the attention you give these questions is the actual process.*

**The two axes:**
- **a** — realization / manifestation (0 = unrealized, 1 = realized)
- **b** — rigidity (0 = flowing, 1 = frozen). The result page therefore shows 1 − b as "flow".

**The four poles** (corners of the field): Emptiness (0, 0) · Chaos (0, 1) · Whole (1, 1) · Beauty (1, 0).
**The four phases** are the four triangles into which the two diagonals a = b and a + b = 1 cut the field: TIME, BREADTH, HEIGHT, DEPTH (in cycle order). The centre (0.5, 0.5) belongs to no phase — every journey starts there.

## 2. A visitor's path

1. **Entrance:** notice text, choice between *NAVIGATE* ("Until your picture clears", long mode, default) and *QUICK* ("Daily reading · 4–8 questions"). A rhombus ignites, a drop flies into the spindle.
2. **Entry question:** the only question where one may also *stay* (release the knob without pulling = answer "in the centre").
3. **Questions:** every question exists in **three lenses** — Rational, Human, Spiritual (tabs; "Three voices — one compass."). The lens changes the words, not the mechanics. The compass carries 4 pole words (cardinal directions) and 4 diagonal words. The poles are rotated at random by 0/90/180/270° per question so the hand learns no habit.
4. **After each answer** the surface breathes out and in. If the point changes phase, a **threshold** appears (golden mist, transition symbol, ritual text). On stagnation a **quiet breathing space** may come (at most twice).
5. **Result** in three layers: *presence* (path symbol, phase, one explanatory sentence, bars for a and 1 − b) · *journey* (flow ring from force/flow, seismograph of the σ course, path sentence, Δ bars) · *message* (mirror → bridge → avoided question). Then silence.

## 4. The mathematics

### 4.1 Canon — the pure mathematics of the work

- Domain: ε = 0.01 — no value ever fully reaches 0 or 1 ("the Golden Remainder"). The edge clamp: v ↦ max(ε, min(1 − ε, v)).
- **Phase** (the phase rule):
  - a < b and a + b < 1 → **TIME**
  - a < b and a + b ≥ 1 → **BREADTH**
  - a ≥ b and a + b > 1 → **HEIGHT**
  - a ≥ b and a + b ≤ 1 → **DEPTH** (the centre falls here by convention but is never counted as a phase)
- **Pole shares** (the four poles always sum to 1):
  - Chaos σ = b(1 − a) — the "chaos core", frozen potential
  - Emptiness μ = (1 − a)(1 − b) — in the work: the golden remainder
  - Whole = a·b · Beauty = a(1 − b)
  - Breath threshold σC = a(1 − a) ≤ ¼
- **Edge damping** (for a value pos and a step δ): if a value moves toward the nearer edge, the step is damped: d = |2·pos − 1| (0 at the centre, 1 at the edge), δ' = δ·(1 − d⁴). Quartic: almost free in the middle, steep at the edge. Movements toward the centre stay undamped.
- **Ring:** factor 1 − b (radius of the ring around the point on the canvas: the more fluid, the wider).

### 4.2 From gesture to step

1. **Joystick:** distance r of the knob from the centre, dead zone 20 px. normR = (r − 20)/(maxR − 20), **intensity = normR^1.75** (small pulls stay very small). The screen direction is rotated by 45°:
da = ((uₓ − u_y)/√2)·intensity, db = (−(uₓ + u_y)/√2)·intensity (u = unit vector of the pull). The four cardinal directions of the compass thus point exactly into the four phases; the diagonals are pure a or b movements. Keyboard: arrow key = 0.6·maxR, with Shift 0.92·maxR.
2. **Back-rotation:** the pole labels were rotated by k·90°; the delta is rotated back — k=1: (db, −da), k=2: (−da, −db), k=3: (−db, da).
3. **Direction:** da ≥ 0 ∧ db ≥ 0 → BREADTH (a↑ b↑) · da < 0 ∧ db ≥ 0 → TIME (a↓ b↑) · da < 0 ∧ db < 0 → DEPTH (a↓ b↓) · otherwise HEIGHT (a↑ b↓). The pole word of this direction is kept as a "resonance word".
4. **Damping:** da' and db' arise from da and db through the edge damping (4.1), at position a and b respectively.
5. **State:** a ← clamp(a + da'), b ← clamp(b + db'), new phase, point appended to the history. The start is always a = b = 0.5.

### 4.3 When the journey ends

- **QUICK:** after 8 answers at the latest; from 4 answers on earlier, if the last step is small (√(da² + db²) ≤ 0.1) **and** the path is directed: stability ≥ 0.6. Stability = mean resultant length of the step angles atan2(db, da) of the last ≤ 6 steps (1 = all in the same direction, 0 = scattered).
- **NAVIGATE:** after 32 answers at the latest; from 8 answers on earlier, if a confidence counter converges: for a and b separately, each step with |δ| < 0.15 counts as "calm" (α + 1), otherwise as "moved" (β + 1), start α = β = 1. Converged when there are at least 6 observations per axis and min(α/(α+β)) for a and b ≥ 0.90.
- The entry answer counts in both modes.

### 4.4 Which question comes next (the dramaturgic question selection)

- **Zones** by number of questions asked: A *Orientation* "Where do you stand?" (< 2) · B *Expansion* "How far does it reach?" (< 4) · C *Crisis* "What endures?" (< 6) · D *Integration* "What remains?".
- **Candidates:** questions not yet asked from the phase the point is currently in. In zone B: if the path has not yet crossed either diagonal, the question comes from the **counter phase** (TIME ↔ HEIGHT, BREADTH ↔ DEPTH) — a "shadow" question. If a phase is exhausted, its neighbouring phases follow, then all.
- **Intensity** (every question is *gentle* or *confronting*): A and D alternate gentle → confronting; B always confronting; C first confronting, then compensating by σ (σ > 0.25 → gentle, σ < 0.15 → confronting, otherwise gentle).
- **Stagnation:** if the same lens or the same domain occurred three times in a row, a question of the opposite intensity comes with 30 % probability.
- **Scoring:** score = 1.0 (0.5 if the question's metaphor already appeared) + 0.3·random; the highest wins.
- **Zone skip** (after the first question of a zone): A → move on if |Δz| > 0.15; B → move on if σ shifted by more than 0.03; C → move on if |Δz| > 0.2; D never.
- **Breathing space:** from question 3 on at the earliest, at most twice; on stagnation (3× same lens/domain) with 40 %, otherwise once from question 4 on with 15 %.

### 4.5 What is computed at the end

Only points outside the centre are counted (the centre has no phase).

- σ = b(1 − a) · **C = a/b** (degree of consciousness; fixed at 100 if b ≤ ε) · σC = a(1 − a) · μ = (1 − a)(1 − b)
- **Dynamics:** step lengths √(da² + db²) → sum, mean, variance.
- **Flow direction:** phase changes along the cycle (TIME→BREADTH→HEIGHT→DEPTH→TIME) vs. against it; *clockwise* if cw > 1.5·ccw, *counterclockwise* the other way round, otherwise *oscillating*; without changes *static*.
- **Residence** per phase (share of points), **missing transitions** of the ideal cycle, **cycle completeness** = 1 − missing/4, **σ course** (for the seismograph, start 0.25).
- **Winding:** neighbouring step in the cycle +1, back −1, a diagonal jump into the counter phase resets the progress to 0; at ±4 a full turn is complete. *Half turn*: |progress| once reached 2.
- **Distance to the centre** dist = √((a − ½)² + (b − ½)²) · **Seed** S = ln(b₀/b) (positive if rigidity has decreased since the first point).
- **Force** (work of the bundling force toward the centre, main work VII): Kᵢ = φ⁻¹·[(½ − aᵢ)Δa + (½ − bᵢ)Δb], φ⁻¹ ≈ 0.618. Positive sum = *contracting*, negative = *expanding*.
- **Flow** (angular momentum around the centre, weighted by ω(σ) = 2π(1 + σ)): Lᵢ = [(aᵢ − ½)Δb − (bᵢ − ½)Δa]·2π(1 + σᵢ).
- **Normalization:** R = mean distance to the centre, v = mean step length, ω̄ = 2π(1 + σ̄). force = 1 − exp(−mean|K| / max(φ⁻¹·R·v, 0.001)), flow = 1 − exp(−mean|L| / max(R·v·ω̄, 0.001)). Both in [0, 1]; they draw the flow ring.

### 4.6 Path type (the path classification, the symbol of the result page)

First match wins — place before path:

| Path type | Condition |
|---|---|
| Chaos circler | σ > 0.8 |
| Emptiness diver | a < 0.2 ∧ b < 0.2 |
| Beauty surfer | a ≥ 0.7 ∧ b ≤ 0.2 |
| Crystal orbiter | σ ≤ 0.1 ∧ 0.8 ≤ C ≤ 1.2 ∧ a > 0.6 ∧ b > 0.6 |
| Golden spiral | full turn (\|winding\| ≥ 1) ∧ S > 0 |
| Orbit wanderer | variance of steps > 0.08 ∧ dist ≥ 0.25 |
| Core circler | dist < 0.25 ∧ half turn ∧ 0.15 ≤ σ ≤ 0.35 ∧ 0.7 ≤ C ≤ 1.4 |
| Transition | otherwise (symbol of the spindle) |

### 4.7 Archetypes and the message

Behind the message lies an inner blueprint of 15 primary archetypes (where one navigated to) and 10 shadow archetypes (what was avoided, from the centre of mass of the whole path); it is **never shown**. From it the three beats of the message are drawn: (1) the **mirror** from the primary archetype, (2) the **bridge**, identical for everyone, (3) the **avoided question** from the shadow archetype — then silence. After a short journey, when the path has barely gone through the cycle of phases, the mirror switches, where such a version exists, to a quieter one: presence of potential instead of movement.

### 4.8 The other result elements

- **Phase + explanatory sentence:** name of the final phase and one sentence (if the journey ends exactly in the centre, both stay empty).
- **Path sentence:** two warm sentences without numbers — from S (> 0.1 "melting", < −0.1 "freezing", otherwise "keeps its shape") and from Δa = a − a₀ (> 0.05 "More is realized", < −0.05 "Less …", otherwise "Realized is what was").
- **Δ bars:** per axis, the share r taken of the possible path to the edge; levels barely (< 0.1), slightly (< 0.25), clearly (< 0.5), far (< 1), "to the edge" (= 1); within the stillness band "unchanged".
- **Materialization:** the result page gets a kind of animation by σ (< 0.08 crystalline, < 0.18 flowing, otherwise chaotic) and turns "sparse" at μ < 0.2.
- **Canvas** (the spindle drawing): x = mean of (L + a·(R − L)) and (R − b·(R − L)), y = B − ½(a + b)·(B − T) — Whole at the top, Emptiness at the bottom, Beauty on the right, Chaos on the left. Tremor of the point: σ > 0.35 critical, > 0.25 vibrating, > 0.08 breathing, otherwise resting; texture of the state line crystalline at C > 2.618 (φ²), mist at C < 0.618 (φ⁻¹), otherwise flow. (The session also computes a pulse frequency f = 0.2 + 3σ/(1 + C) that no surface currently reads.)
