Navigator — Part A: idea, path, computation (public version)

The page says up front:

This is an experimental resonance space, not therapy. The mirror can be sharp. All content is fictional.

Answer honestly — the attention you give these questions is the actual process.

Status: version of 19.10.2026, not yet approved by Robin Jeske
Authorship and bias (Autorschaft und Befangenheit): Written by a Claude instance on 18.10.2026, read from the Navigator's code and data (via the workshop version hand-written on that day); not yet approved by Robin Jeske. A Claude voice is describing a tool of a work that Claude instances have long worked with — the description is a translation out of the code, not an interpretation, and it carries its author's handwriting. Where it contradicts the code, the code holds; read this text against itself as well.
State: source state of 19.10.2026 over the seven Navigator sources (Navigator engine · canon of the work · compass gesture · spindle engine · question catalogue · flow and result page · spindle drawing), checked against the seven sources at every test run of the platform; if one source differs, this text counts as unchecked.

1. The idea

The Navigator (/chaos) is a local state navigator. It does not ask who someone is; it lets a point wander through the playing field of the Spindle — the plane z = a + bi from section VII of the main work. An answer is not a choice between texts but a gesture: one pulls a compass knob in a direction, further or less far. Direction and strength move the point. At the end there is no label but a mirror: where the journey arrived, how it went, and a question about what was avoided. Then silence — no restart button, no "go deeper".

The page says up front:

This is an experimental resonance space, not therapy. The mirror can be sharp. All content is fictional.

Answer honestly — the attention you give these questions is the actual process.

The two axes:

The four poles (corners of the field): Emptiness (0, 0) · Chaos (0, 1) · Whole (1, 1) · Beauty (1, 0).
The four phases are the four triangles into which the two diagonals a = b and a + b = 1 cut the field: TIME, BREADTH, HEIGHT, DEPTH (in cycle order). The centre (0.5, 0.5) belongs to no phase — every journey starts there.

2. A visitor's path

  1. Entrance: notice text, choice between NAVIGATE ("Until your picture clears", long mode, default) and QUICK ("Daily reading · 4–8 questions"). A rhombus ignites, a drop flies into the spindle.
  2. Entry question: the only question where one may also stay (release the knob without pulling = answer "in the centre").
  3. Questions: every question exists in three lenses — Rational, Human, Spiritual (tabs; "Three voices — one compass."). The lens changes the words, not the mechanics. The compass carries 4 pole words (cardinal directions) and 4 diagonal words. The poles are rotated at random by 0/90/180/270° per question so the hand learns no habit.
  4. After each answer the surface breathes out and in. If the point changes phase, a threshold appears (golden mist, transition symbol, ritual text). On stagnation a quiet breathing space may come (at most twice).
  5. Result in three layers: presence (path symbol, phase, one explanatory sentence, bars for a and 1 − b) · journey (flow ring from force/flow, seismograph of the σ course, path sentence, Δ bars) · message (mirror → bridge → avoided question). Then silence.

4. The mathematics

4.1 Canon — the pure mathematics of the work

4.2 From gesture to step

  1. Joystick: distance r of the knob from the centre, dead zone 20 px. normR = (r − 20)/(maxR − 20), intensity = normR^1.75 (small pulls stay very small). The screen direction is rotated by 45°:
da = ((uₓ − u_y)/√2)·intensity, db = (−(uₓ + u_y)/√2)·intensity (u = unit vector of the pull). The four cardinal directions of the compass thus point exactly into the four phases; the diagonals are pure a or b movements. Keyboard: arrow key = 0.6·maxR, with Shift 0.92·maxR.
  2. Back-rotation: the pole labels were rotated by k·90°; the delta is rotated back — k=1: (db, −da), k=2: (−da, −db), k=3: (−db, da).
  3. Direction: da ≥ 0 ∧ db ≥ 0 → BREADTH (a↑ b↑) · da < 0 ∧ db ≥ 0 → TIME (a↓ b↑) · da < 0 ∧ db < 0 → DEPTH (a↓ b↓) · otherwise HEIGHT (a↑ b↓). The pole word of this direction is kept as a "resonance word".
  4. Damping: da' and db' arise from da and db through the edge damping (4.1), at position a and b respectively.
  5. State: a ← clamp(a + da'), b ← clamp(b + db'), new phase, point appended to the history. The start is always a = b = 0.5.

4.3 When the journey ends

4.4 Which question comes next (the dramaturgic question selection)

4.5 What is computed at the end

Only points outside the centre are counted (the centre has no phase).

4.6 Path type (the path classification, the symbol of the result page)

First match wins — place before path:

Path typeCondition
Chaos circlerσ > 0.8
Emptiness divera < 0.2 ∧ b < 0.2
Beauty surfera ≥ 0.7 ∧ b ≤ 0.2
Crystal orbiterσ ≤ 0.1 ∧ 0.8 ≤ C ≤ 1.2 ∧ a > 0.6 ∧ b > 0.6
Golden spiralfull turn (|winding| ≥ 1) ∧ S > 0
Orbit wanderervariance of steps > 0.08 ∧ dist ≥ 0.25
Core circlerdist < 0.25 ∧ half turn ∧ 0.15 ≤ σ ≤ 0.35 ∧ 0.7 ≤ C ≤ 1.4
Transitionotherwise (symbol of the spindle)

4.7 Archetypes and the message

Behind the message lies an inner blueprint of 15 primary archetypes (where one navigated to) and 10 shadow archetypes (what was avoided, from the centre of mass of the whole path); it is never shown. From it the three beats of the message are drawn: (1) the mirror from the primary archetype, (2) the bridge, identical for everyone, (3) the avoided question from the shadow archetype — then silence. After a short journey, when the path has barely gone through the cycle of phases, the mirror switches, where such a version exists, to a quieter one: presence of potential instead of movement.

4.8 The other result elements

Sources

  1. Workshop version "Navigator — Architecture" (Part A, English counterpart), hand-written on 18.10.2026, read from the code; sections 1, 2, 4.1–4.6 and 4.8 taken over verbatim in substance. Its hash stamp matches the living code on 18.10.2026 (source state above).
  2. The Navigator's code in the seven sources of the source state: Navigator engine (state, metrics, path type, archetypes, result texts), canon of the work (edge, clamp, phase, pole shares, ring), compass gesture, spindle engine (tremor, texture), question catalogue (lenses, zones, selection), flow and result page, spindle drawing.
  3. Notice text: entrance screen of the page /chaos, English version, verbatim with its paragraph break.
  4. On 4.7: the comment at the archetype mirror in the Navigator engine (German in the code) — "15 Primaer + 10 Schatten als INTERNER Bauplan" (15 primary + 10 shadow as an INTERNAL blueprint), "Diese Identitaeten werden NIE als Diagnose gezeigt" (these identities are NEVER shown as a diagnosis) (Tisch "spiegel-archetypen", 30.5.2026); mirror … bridge "fuer alle gleich" (identical for everyone) … avoided question … then silence; the quieter version as "Gegenwart des Potenzials bei kurzer Reise" (presence of potential after a short journey), triggered by low cycle completeness (Tisch "resultpage-sprache", German approved by Robin on 31.5.2026).
  5. Main work section VII (playing field, four phases from the two boundaries, bundling force) — taken over as a reference of the workshop version, not newly interpreted here.
